A Week in Peru

For the past week (May 11-18) I have had the honor of working with The Peruvian Conductors' National Association and with project manager/director Arturo Mercado Vasquez on their first national seminar for bands in Lima. The event featured 12 bands and had 4 large concerts and held many conducting lectures and educational presentations including several that suggested and discussed improvements to methods of instrumental music education.

The seminar also included several presentations and master classes for participating conductors. As the featured guest, I was given the honor to work with all 12 bands. Each band first rehearsed in their home halls, while all the performances were all held at the local private school of Hiram Bingham High School. All four concerts went with full houses, and great such great success that both the participating bands and the audience requested the event to go on.

I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such talented and driven students.

Best wishes,

Laszlo Marosi
